It’s not every day that we get to review an alt-folk harp track… in fact, perhaps this the very first instance of such a niche artform appearing on our pages. The song that’s expanding our sonic horizons is ‘The North Wind’ from harpist, songwriter and singer Ellie Ford. Unbelievably she’s a self-taught musician who has crafted such a unique sound. Listening to ‘The North Wind’ is like being wrapped in a fantasy world; walking through the wardrobe to be struck by the wonder that lies before you. Furthermore, the performance delivered by Ford in the video is utterly spell-binding, as though magic is forming at her fingertips with each deft touch of the harp strings. - Hannah Thacker
